Lauren Arnold

It begins with deceptive silence. That silence is interrupted by repetitive sounds of commercialization. And returns to a clip of small undisruptive sounds. Which is again interrupted by that repetitive clip. And, again the small serene sounds of the outdoors come, but a shorter clip this time. The repetitive sounds of the woman’s voice come again shorter. The outdoor sounds come back one final time but not enough for the listener to settle into them. This is all followed by the sounds of commercial industry finally being able to move forward.

This piece was created from recorded sound in the town that I go to college in. The idea behind it is that even when we believe that we are in silence there is always some kind of sound. And, more often than not that "silence" is interrupted by the sounds of commercialism and capitalism.
